Paul McCobb Table
A new client of ours in Manhattan asked us to conserve and restore this love table with two leaves. We chemically removed the existing finish, repaired several scratches to the top of the table and restored a Heywood Wakefield wheat finish.

We were asked to restore this small credenza as there were stain and burn marks on the top of the pieces. We chemically removed the existing finish, made our repairs to the surface and applied a new period appropriate finish to the piece.

Paul McCobb Credenza- 2
This larger credenza is also owned by our client in Jackson Heights, Queens. This piece had damage to the top as a red candle burned down and left a burn mark as well as a red stain from the candle wax. We have removed that damage and finished the piece in a low luster, period appropriate finish. The doors to the credenza had been painted gold at some point, but you can see the original vibrant orange poking through the gold paint. When we removed the gold paint, the original orange came up beautifully.

Paul McCobb Desk and Chair
We were also asked by our client in Queens, NY (same as above pieces) to restore this Paul McCobb desk and chair. The desk was badly in need of restoration. The finish on the top was particularly bad, with many scratches, stains and some significant cracks. The side of the drawer cabinet was also fairly damaged, with some significant cracking towards the bottom. In addition, the inside side of the drawer casing has a cracked piece that needs to be glued back and touched in. The desk chair had quite a few stains and wear to the finish.

DESK IN PROCESS PHOTOS-DETAILED
The following photos show the stages of repair. We had to put dowels in the case for the drawers as the bottoms were quite cracked and we did not want the cracks to return. In addition, we put "butterfly" joins in the bottom of the desk top to repair the cracking in the piece. The last photo shows the desk top when we have done the bulk of the retouching after the repair work.

Paul McCobb Dresser
One of our antique shop clients on the North Fork of Long Island asked us to refinish this lovely Paul McCobb dresser. The piece had scratches, stains (lots of water marks!) and a burn mark on the top. In addition, the finish was worn and uneven. We stripped the piece and refinished it to a lighter color per the client's preference. We also polished the original hardware, which came out beautifully. Overall, the piece turned out very nicely.

Paul McCobb Desk
An antiques shop in Greenport, NY asked us to refinish this Paul McCobb desk, as the surface had many scratches and the finish had worn badly over time. We stripped the piece, refinished it to the client's tone preference and polished the original hardware. It sold within days of being back in the shop.

Paul McCobb Planner Group
One of our clients on Shelter Island, NY had a great set of Paul McCobb Planner Group pieces. His Planner Group, manufactured by Winchendon Furniture Company, was among the best selling contemporary furniture lines of the 1950s and was in continuous production from 1949 until 1964. Our client wanted us to refinish the pieces and color match them to a darker tone on some other pieces in her collection. These pieces are great because you can mix and match the components to achieve many different configurations depending on how you want to use them.
